Adam Keil
engineer . producer
Adam Keil is a New Orleans-based audio engineer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist with a passion for music and production. Stemming from a lifelong preoccupation with playing and recording music, his professional career began at Music Shed Studios. He has worked with a vast array of artists ranging from The Roots and Big Freedia to Yungblud, Lucky Daye, Leyla McCalla, Esther Rose, the Soul Rebels, Hot 8 Brass Band and many others. When the Music Shed closed its main studio location, Keil became a staff engineer at Marigny Studios, all the while continuing to work as a freelance producer, engineer, and musician in various studios—including his own mixing and production suite.
For Keil, the recording studio is a rare place where the spontaneity of music performance can be captured and transformed into a further extension of the initial creation. There is a subtle art to finding the right aesthetic to complement and elevate the music, and the studio is that dynamic environment where the possibilities for realizing this vision are endless. Sound production requires striking a balance between analyzing the process and leaving space for the music to find its own expression. Knowing when to hold back from interfering with the music and when to utilize the studio to nourish it is the essence of this work.
